Ethereum stands at a pivotal moment. Interest in Ethereum has expanded beyond engineers and enthusiasts, bringing businesses, governments and everyday users looking for practical solutions and concrete benefits. The Ethereum Ecosystem is adapted to meet these needs, and the Ethereum Foundation is doing its part.
As outlined in Recent Vision Statement from the Ethereum Foundationthere are two important goals.
- Maximize the number of people who use Ethereum (directly or indirectly) to benefit from the underlying value of Ethereum.
- Maximizes the resilience of Ethereum’s technical and social infrastructure.
Ecosystem Development (ECODEV) refers to teams that help us achieve these goals at the ecological or social level, not at the technology level. These teams remove bottlenecks for real use, help users get installed on Ethereum, support the Ethereum community around the world, provide grant funding, manage the ecosystem, help Ethereum stay resilient and human-enhancing.
To better achieve these goals, we are significantly expanding ECODEV’s efforts and reorganizing focusing on four key areas.
Acceleration of ecosystems
We want to help It will accelerate The pace of ecosystem growth by working closely with developers, founders, app teams and businesses who want to use Ethereum.
We are creating four new teams that will impact these major recruitment pipelines.
- Enterprise Relationships: Clear resources and guidance tailored for companies adopting Ethereum.
- Developer Growth: Attract, guide and support the next generation of builders with Ethereum.
- App relationships and research: Accelerating meaningful, user-friendly Ethereum applications.
- Founder’s success: Provide non-financial support, feedback, referral, operational expertise, and mentorship.
These teams include long-time EF members working in these areas (such as Austing Refills in the development of developers) and new recruits to expand their skill set and capabilities.
At the heart of ECODEV acceleration, you can work with existing networks and community members. Ethereum has a deep ecosystem of individuals and organizations supporting founders, developers, apps, and businesses, including L2, accelerators, community events, hackathon organizers, investors, and educators.
Ecosystem amplification
Other teams can help amplification The impact of our acceleration efforts and the ECODEV work done by the community.
These teams will help you understand and track how your ecosystem is growing, run targeted events to support your strategic priorities, educate and tell important stories about Ethereum using a variety of forms of media, and leverage all your work with new tools and AI.
These teams are an evolution of EF’s existing teams, and ECODEV automation is new.
- Digital Studio (officially the ethereum.org team): Create our innovation and storytelling engine, story-rich content, videos, publications, and unique visualizations that demonstrate the possibilities of Ethereum. Ethereum.org will continue to be one of many projects this team develops.
- Strategic Events: Design your target events, from small gatherings to niche day meetings.
- Ethereum everywhere: The team focuses on scaling local communities and hubs that support app builders (team name is still WIP)
- ECODEV Automation: Enhance internal operations through intelligent automation and AI-driven tools to help teams achieve more effectively.
devcon/nect The team will continue as a team focused on launching large annual events in the Ethereum ecosystem, such as Devcon and DevConnect, but will continue to work directly under the management team, rather than being incorporated into the new ECODEV structure.
Ecosystem support
Three teams will continue to be dedicated to reconciliation of financial and non-financial support needed for initiatives across the Ethereum ecosystem.
- ESP/Granted Support: The Grants program will undergo major changes, highlighting more targeted applications and non-financial support. This team supports the EF team with the Grant Diving Initiative, reviews several grant applications and manages relationships with grantees.
- Strategic Financing Initiatives: Jointly dispatch important public goods organizations that benefit the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
- LaunchPad: Support organizations with operational design, sustainable funding, governance and other challenges. LaunchPad supports spin-outs from EFs, grantees, or other ecosystem organizations that can benefit from this help.
Long-term ecosystem unblocked
It will also continue to do many long-term work flows to remove obstacles to adoption around the world. It is organized into various streams including:
- Policy adjustments: It monitors global issues related to the Ethereum ecosystem, identify risks and opportunities that EF can support, and works with policy agencies around the world to promote positive Ethereum outcomes.
- In-facility office: Build lasting relationships with governments and NGOs
- Academic Secretariat: It promotes collaboration with universities, professors and students to advance blockchain technology.
You need an ecosystem
As Ethereum grows, there is more to support and order its growth and the ecosystem needs to do. We are excited to do our part and contribute in new ways, but we are not alone. We are already working closely with the broader ecosystem, including organizations, businesses, startups, event organizers, community members, investors, developers, and many other partners driving Ethereum’s growth. If you want to work with us, Contact James Smith!
The Ethereum ecosystem is constantly changing. This means that ecosystem development approaches will continue to evolve as well. We keep asking constantly: Where do we need to intervene today to do things that no one can do? And we will continue to work to help others increase their impact on the ecosystem. This will make the Ethereum ecosystem more resilient over time.
