Polygons experience finality confusion due to bugs in bor/erigon nodes

According to the official incident report on its status page, the polygon has experienced a temporary delay in consensus finality due to bugs affecting the BOR node and the Erigon node.

The issue, which began early on Wednesday, disrupted some remote procedure call (RPC) services, causing apps built on the network to encounter access issues. The polygon blockchain is live and continues to generate blocks, but many RPC providers and validators have been forced to rewind to the final block and resynchronize.

The Polygon team has confirmed that the bug is preventing the progress of nodes in a particular configuration. However, restarting the affected nodes resolved the issue for some participants. “We see that rebooting the nodes has fixed many validators and RPC provider issues,” Polygon says.

Engineers are working with infrastructure providers to accelerate debugging efforts and full functionality. The team has revealed that the incident does not affect core chain operations and ensures users a quick recovery.

Cointelegraph reached out to Polygon Labs for comment, but was not able to receive a response from the publishing.

This is a developing story, and more information will be added as it becomes available.
