Hegota Upgrade EIP Proposed Schedule

Fusaka shipped PeerDAS in addition to a myriad of minor features. Glamsterdam’s key features will also include block-level access lists and proposer-builder separation.

Here we provide an overview of the subsequent upgrade, Hegotá.

timeline

January 8th – February 4th: Headliner proposal (EthMag)

February 5th – February 26th*: Headliner discussion and final decision (ACD call)

30 day grace period: Non-headliner EIP proposal (Hegota Meta EIP)

*Subject to change

headliner proposal

Hegota’s main feature (the “headliner”) is selected first. These features, presented as EIPs, can be submitted to the Ethereum Magicians Forum from scratch. January 8thuse the template posted in the EIP meta thread. This template asks authors to justify the inclusion of features, assess the positive and negative impact on users, assess technical readiness, and designate an EIP champion. The Champion acts as a point of contact and is responsible for facilitating technical feedback. For a previous example, see resource section at the bottom of this post.

Proposals must be submitted by: February 4th The deadline has passed and it will be submitted to the All Core Developers Meeting for consideration. Once submitted, the champion moves the proposal to Proposed status by opening a pull request against the meta EIP, and the EIP is placed in the “Proposals for” section.

One of the headliners, FOCIL, is already listed in the “Considered” section. It was previously discussed for inclusion in the Gramsterdam upgrade, but was later postponed as part of a scope reduction decision. This content is included here to reflect previous discussion and ongoing interest.

Headliner discussion and final decision

The next four All Core Dev calls are then used to deliberate between proposals. Evaluations are typically based on the need and urgency of Ethereum and its users, as well as the complexity and security considerations of implementing the changes. The Ethereum community is invited to voice their opinions on these proposals through the Ethereum Magicians Forum. A community feedback template will be posted once this period begins.

EIP proposals other than headliners

Once a headliner is selected, there will be a 30-day period to propose minor features (“non-headliners”). These are suggested by opening a pull request against the meta EIP within that time frame and placing the EIP in the “Suggest for inclusion” section.
