BTFS launched v4.1 mainnet, introducing new features such as enhanced storage acquisition and proxy mode. This update aims to improve decentralization and network accessibility.
BitTorrent File System (BTFS) has officially launched v4.1 mainnet, introducing several new features aimed at enhancing the user experience and network decentralization, according to BitTorrent Inc.
Main features of BTFS v4.1
Key enhancements in BTFS v4.1 include implementation of BTIP-103. This allows BTFS clients to obtain storage provider (SP) addresses directly from the proposal contract. This feature streamlines the connection between governance and storage workflows to ensure smoother operations.
This update also introduces BTIP-104, which allows users to extend the retention period of uploaded files using both automatic and manual update options, eliminating the need to re-upload files. Additionally, BTIP-105 introduces a new proxy mode with dedicated upload routing that allows proxy nodes to forward client file data to a designated SP. This feature is especially useful in restricted network environments, making file uploads more reliable and accessible.
Additionally, the release package now supports the Apple ARM architecture, expanding the range of compatible devices and systems.
