Mercari, one of Japan’s largest e-commerce players, has launched XRP trading capabilities with the Mercoin Crypto Exchange app.
In a Mercari press release, the company explained that customers can purchase Altcoin using their Mercari (Merpay) account balances or using Mercari points.
Mercari: XRP move
This development is only within a year since the company added Ethereum (ETH) trading capabilities to its Crypto app.

Mercoin launched its Bitcoin (BTC) trading service in March 2023.
Last December, the company claimed that over 3 million people were using crypto trading services.
He also said it recorded the most new crypto wallet openings in the country’s crypto exchange industry.
The company said it added XRP to its platform on April 24, saying customers could open wallets with the lowest sediment ($0.007).
Mercari added that about 90% of Mercoin users are first-time crypto investors.
The company also teased upcoming XRP-themed events. In a press release, the company wrote:
“We will be considering the scope of XRP-related events and campaigns in the future. We will work to make XRP a more familiar cryptocurrency in Japan.”

Melcoin: Incentives and events planned
Last July, Mercoin launched an “invitation campaign” to promote its Bitcoin trading service.
The company ran a four-week campaign when it attempted to encourage Mercari users to invite friends and relatives to the platform.
The company gave both the invited and the winner 200 yen worth of Bitcoin to each person who invited them, and placed “no limit” on the number of people they could invite.
In March, Japanese game developer Gumi announced plans to hold $106,000 in Bitcoin giveaway for its latest shareholders.
The gaming company is part of a growing cohort of Japanese stock market listed companies that used their balance sheets to buy BTC and Altcoins this year.
Mercari claims that there are over 23 million users every month in Japan. Last month, the company announced plans to enter the mobile telecommunications sector.
